Alpine Valley Region of Engadine, Switzerland - 5 Day ALPA Escape with Julian Calverley

‍

Join ALPA photographer Julian Calverley for a five day masterclass on landscape photography, in the stunning Engadine region of Switzerland.

‍

Our home for the week will be the historic village of Bergün.There will be a variety of ALPA cameras, lenses and accessories available, for anyone to try out if they so wish.

‍

BESPOKE LEARNING

‍

Julian generally prefers to work with small groups whenever possible, hence our group being for six participants only. This approach simply provides a far more focused, intimate and memorable experience. Participants benefit greatly by having more quality time and more physical space, with which to work in the landscape.

‍

LOCATIONS

‍

Engadine is a mountainous region, and therefore can offer ‘four seasons in one day’ and so this is an all weather masterclass, which adds to the experience.Over the course of the five-days we will take you to a wonderfully varied mix of locations. These will include Lake Palpuogna, Cascada da Bernina and the Glacier Morteratsch, to name but a few. There will also be time spent making pictures in the village of Bergün, focusing on its fascinating and unique architecture.

‍

DAILY MASTERCLASSES

‍

We will have private use of the hotel’s meeting room, where I will be running daily master classes on the many aspects of landscape photography. Broadly speaking I'll discuss and explore the Art, Craft and Process of landscape photography.

‍

1/ Introduction talk - 'A journey into landscape photography'  I talk about my career as a professional advertising photographer and how this lead to my passion for landscape photography.

‍

2/ 'My approach to landscape photography' I explain my approach to landscape photography, from both a technical and psychological point of view.

‍

3/ ‘Light, composition and on camera filters' I discuss the use of light and composition and illustrate my use of filters. In particular the use of ‘on camera’ neutral density (ND) grads.

‍

4/ 'Inspiration' One of my favourite topics. I talk about the work that has inspired me over the years and delve in to a broader discussion of inspiration.

‍

5/ 'Creating panoramic landscapes' I explain my approach to panoramic work, using shift, stitch and panning methods.

‍

6/ 'Post production and printing' I demonstrate my approach, processes and techniques on post production, and discuss the importance of printing.

‍
